National University made quick work of Perpetual, 25-17, 25-7, 25-17, to stay undefeated in the playoffs of the Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-season Conference Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Bulldogs used a huge second-quarter rally where they limited the Lady Altas to a single-digit score, 25-7.
Minerva Maaya caught fire in the service area after tallying 10 of the 29 aces of NU to exploit Perpetual’s defense including the final block of the match which sealed the win for the former.
Now with a 3-0 standing in Pool E, NU will face University of Santo Tomas in the knockout match on Sunday, Nov. 6, to advance to the semifinals.
Evangeline Alinsug and Sheena Toring added 10 points apiece.
Opposite to the Bulldogs, the Altas absorbed a 0-3 slate.
In the next play, UST turned back Far Eastern University in four sets, 25, 21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-2, to pick up its second win in Pool F and arranged a meeting with NU for a semifinals seat.
Regina Jurado posted a huge 20-point finish off 16 attacks and four aces.
