Agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized some P8 million worth of cigarettes in an anti-smuggling operation in Zamboanga City.
The operation was part of the intensified anti-smuggling operations over reports that some areas in western part of Mindanao have been serving as entry points of smuggled products.

Agents of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) and the Enforcement and Security Service-Customs Police Division (ESS-CPD), backed by the local police forces, then intercepted vehicle loaded with cases of cigarettes.
The 207 master cases of cigarettes was seized after it was discovered inside a white van in Barangay Baliwasan in Zamboanga City.
"The seized goods and vehicles were found negative for illegal drugs," the BOC statement read.
The vehicle and the master cases of cigarettes are now under the custody of the BOC for proper inventory and disposition, for violation of Section 1113 (a) and Section 117 of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act of 2016, in relation to the Tobacco Exportation and Importation Rules and Regulations.
