Rangel's 'DIKA' brings all the kilig

Rangel opens her heart to the warmth of love with her latest single “DIKA.”

While love is a topic all too familiar, the singer-songwriter focuses on the brighter side of being in a loving relationship through lyrics that are sure to bring a smile to your face. As the chorus goes: “oras ng kalungkutan /‘di ka bibitawan/hahawakan ang iyong mga kamay”. 
 
“As a pessimist, it's easy to look at these words as an illusion, kasi di ba may ‘walang forever’ na notion nonstop,” Rangel shares. “But it's just unfair to those who are really down for the long run. So I thought it'll be nice to look at the bright side sometimes and come from a hope for the best/I’ll always be there for you point of view, because who knows? Maybe it will work out,” she adds.


Love songs in the Philippines are abundant, but Rangel’s optimistic and bubbly perspective on love focuses on hoping for the best, which comes as a reassuring and sobering truth without being too twee. Pop-friendly melodies and Rangel’s soothing voice bring “DIKA” towards effervescent heights. As Rangel opens her heart, listeners might end up opening theirs – or at least add “DIKA” to their kilig playlist!
 
Rangel Fernandez, better known under the mononym Rangel, is a Filipino pop singer and songwriter. Rangel’s love for music began at the tender age of three and has not slowed down since. Despite being shy, she frequently joined talent competitions in her childhood, supported by her family and friends.


At the age of 13 Rangel began to write her own music. Later on, she made her foray into the music industry playing at the Filipino-favorite noontime show Eat Bulaga! with the now disbanded pop-rock group Music Hero.


The last few years have been proven rewarding for Rangel, as a dedicated group of fans follow her and her talents. It is also during this time when she released her most popular single “Hanggang Saan”. Her live performance of this hit at Wish 107.5 garnered almost 1 million views as of writing.

 
The sincerity in her songwriting and the emotions in her voice make her standout from the rest of emerging Filipino acts. She has worked closely with famed local rock band Mayonnaise, among others, and continues to establish a direct connection with her fans through her YouTube channel and social media accounts. Rangel is signed under Warner Music Philippines.
