Jerry Gasendo, 53, of Barangay 40 here, was riding his motorcycle when the assailants got closer to him and shot him in the head.

Gasendo succumbed to four gunshot wounds, according to Maj. Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8 here.

Police recovered from the crime scene two fired bullets of .45 caliber firearm.

The incident was captured in a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera.

Puerto said they are looking into the killing as drug-related, considering that Gasendo’s name allegedly floated, following the arrest of Mary Nessa Ong, who allegedly yielded P680,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Taculing here on Oct. 27.

Puerto said that Ong alleged that the recovered illegal drugs came from Gasendo.

Puerto also said that Gasendo had been under the drugs watch list of Police Station 6 and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-Western Visayas that led the operation against Ong last month.

Meanwhile, Puerto believed that the perpetrators were ‘gun-for-hire’ considering the manner of the attack.
