CANDELARIA, Quezon – A Grade 8 student and an 18-year-old vulcanizing shop employee were gunned down by two men in Barangay Poblacion here on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Candelaria police chief Lt. Col. Dennis de Leon identified the victims as Jimber Villarin Perez and Alexander Taliente Perez, residents of Sitio Baloyboy, Barangay Masin Sur, this town.
Investigation said the victims were in front of a vulcanizing shop at 8:10 p.m. when the suspects, John Peter de Villa, 23, of Barangay Pahinga here, and Romnick Pasahol, 31, of Barangay Malabanban Norte, this town, appeared.
De Villa drew a gun and shot Jimber in the chest and face.
Alexander ran away but De Villa chased him. The suspect caught up with Alexander and shot the victim in the left shoulder and the bullet exited the left armpit.
Victims were taken to Peter Paul Medical Center in this town but they were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Emerson Lim.
Suspects fled and are the targets of a police hot-pursuit operation.
Lawmen have yet to determine the motive of the incident.
