RR Pogoy's impeccable first-half shooting powers TNT past NorthPort for first win
RR Pogoy just couldn’t miss in a blistering shooting display in the first half which practically set the tone in TNT’s 117-93 demolition of NorthPort to barge into the win column in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Pogoy dropped 26 of his 32 points in the first two quarters where he went for a perfect 10-of-10 from the field including an impeccable 6-of-6 clip from beyond the arc – a feat that put his name in PBA history books with the most consecutive baskets without a miss by a local in a half.
He was actually at the forefront of the blazing second quarter as the Tropang Giga easily cruised to the huge bounce back win after a heartbreaking 94-92 loss to the Magnolia Hotshots in their mid-season conference debut.
NorthPort never recovered from there as the Tropang Giga picked up where Pogoy left off, going berserk in the second half with import Cameron Oliver punishing the rim with a couple of highlight dunks and Mikey Williams firing on all cylinders.
Pogoy went on to finish the game on a 12-of-14 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 from the three-point territory while Oliver followed up his monster 43-point debut with an all around effort of 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Williams, who also missed TNT’s first game, was also solid in his Commissioner’s Cup debut with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, doing just enough to alleviate the absence of Jayson Castro and Glenn Khobuntin.
The Tropang Giga also tightened their defensive screws, limiting NorthPort star Robert Bolick to just 14 points after exploding for 33 and 44 points in the past two games. Arvin Tolentino paced the Batang Pier with 19 points while Prince Ibeh added 18 points and 12 rebounds.
