PH Embassy in Ankara’s art exhibit celebrates Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month

The Philippine Embassy in Ankara launched an art exhibit to celebrate the Philippines’ Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (Mana Mo) in late September at the embassy’s consular section lobby. Mana Mo is held every September.
Presidential Proclamation No. 316 (2017) of the Philippines encourages all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government to raise awareness and consciousness of maritime and archipelagic issues and concerns.
The exhibit features the seaside scenery artworks entitled Reflections of the sea from the painter’s heart of Turkish painter Süheyla Üstek, who was trained by Ankara-based Filipino artist Jonal Buenafe. A native of Nevsehir, Üstek studied at Anadolu University and the Ankara Maturation Institute, where she earned a painting education and training certificate. She now has her own art studio.

Üstek’s paintings were also exhibited for two days at CerModern as part of the Philippine Embassy’s participation in the World Cultures Festival in Ankara, also late last month.
The art exhibit is now back at the embassy, open to the public until the end of October.
Presidential Proclamation No. 316 (2017) of the Philippines declares September as Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month. The proclamation encourages all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government, including corporations owned or controlled by the government and local government units, as well as the private sector, to implement programs and activities that seek to raise awareness and consciousness on maritime and archipelagic issues and concerns.
