Jinggoy says it's hard to judge PBBM's performance in 1st 100 days
It is difficult to make a judgment on the capacity of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to come up with solutions to a plateful of difficult problems in just 100 days.
Among these problems are high prices of oil products, which affect prices of consumer items; high unemployment rate; the surge of the dollar which is weakening the Philippine peso; and the continued presence of Covid-19 virus in the country.
‘’The President so far is proving to be on the right track,’’ Senator Jose ‘’Jinggoy’’ Ejercito Estrada said during a DWIZ radio interview.
‘’He has been focusing on important matters. On his first day in office, the fact that the President took upon himself the impending food crisis is already an indication of him being a micromanager,’’ he said.
Estrada said the President’s “friend to all, enemy to none” diplomatic stance is consistent with the unity strategy he used in campaigning for the presidency.
‘’We need to restore severed ties and at the same time strengthen diplomatic relations with our ally-nations to help us rise from the rubble brought about by the pandemic and series of natural disasters,’’ he stressed.
Senator Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa gave a thumbs up to the President’s performance during his first 100 days in office.
‘’Masaya ako sa kanyang mga ginagawa (I am happy with what he is doing),’’ he said.
Asked in what aspects did the Marcos administration excel at, Dela Rosa said the President has investigated incidents with shades of corruption.
‘’Sa health okay naman ang patuloy nyang programa sa Covid-19 response. sa food sufficiency sya mismo ang nag head sa DA (Health issues, including Covid-19 response, are being handled. He is handling the Department of Agriculture). Peace and order OK naman maganda rin (Peace and order is OK, it is good),’’ he said.
On political unity in the first 100 days, Dela Rosa said: ‘’Medyo kulang pa tayo ng konti, alam mo na mahirap talaga napakahirap ng misyon na ayan (There is a small percentage, you know, it is difficult to resolve that mission).
‘’Medyo you cant really satisfy all sectors kahit na sincere ang kanyang efforts na magkaisa tayo meron tallagang ayaw makiisa gusto (You really cannot satisfy all sectors although the administration is sincere because there are just persons who simply refuse to unite). Puna lang ng puna ayaw tumulong ganyan talaga ang sitwasyon natin ngayon (They keep on criticising, they refuse to help. That is our situation today),’’ he stressed.
