There's a month-long arts festival happening in Binangonan, Rizal

Parika Kalye Sining brings art closer to the Filipinos
A celebration of music, theater, visual arts, and more is happening in Binangonan, Rizal as the municipality launches Binangonan Arts Festival 2022. Artists and art enthusiasts are invited to join its festivities for the whole month of October initiated by Parika Kalye Sining, a street culture and arts organization that aims to bring art closer to the masses through exhibits, education programs, creative talks, and concerts in different spots of the municipality.
Led by its artistic director James Harvey Estrada, together with Jenny Lyn Villegas (company manager), Gio Anthony Ojeda (head of visual arts), David Joshua Magno (head of literary arts), and Jhon Lanreb Claudio (head of performing arts for music), Parika Kayle Sining understands the vital role of the arts in regards to societal development. With its name hailed from the Tagalog term “parika” meaning “to invite,” the organization encourages everyone, whether they are from Binangonan or not, to join them in their mission of championing Filipino artistry in different mediums.
“Knowing that art spaces should not be limited to museums, theaters, and concert halls, we take the streets and public open spaces as a free space for artistic endeavors for the masses,” the organization said.
Parika Kayle Sining’s activities started in September with its Parika Likhaan, an interdisciplinary art laboratory providing a series of seminars and workshops for artists. To kick off the festivities this October, the organization held Parika Rakrakan featuring the performances of Filipino bands.
What Filipinos can look forward to in the coming days are its Parika Arte with Filipino thespians sharing stories the audience can’t see behind theater curtains, Parika Edukasyon, an arts and education program for children presenting the collaborations between various educators and Parika artists through storytelling and painting sessions, and a live jamming session courtesy of Parika Binangonan Music Festival.
“Ang festival na ito ay isang paanyaya at tawag na silipin ang kultura at sining sa bayan ng Binangonan (This festival is an invitation and call to witness the culture and art of Binangonan,” the organization said in a statement. “Sa kabila ng pandemiya ay narito ang mga artista na nagtitipon at nagpapatuloy na may pag-alab na lumikha ng sining na napapanahon, totoo, at makabayan (Despite the pandemic, artists band together and continue with their passion to create art that are timely, real, and patriotic).”
