Jose Rizal University has all the right to enjoy its recent victory after also rolling to its fifth straight win in the NCAA Season 98 men's basketball tournament.

The Heavy Bombers eked out a 63-57 win against then second-seeded Lyceum Pirates, something that head coach Louie Gonzales is proud of.
After all, what JRU did is just the fruit of its hard work as soon as Season 98 began. But as the season progresses, the Bombers showed what they are made of and proved that they are indeed contenders for the Final Four.
With the recent win, JRU finds itself in a three-way tie with Lyceum and San Beda, sharing identical 5-2 records.
Gonzales believes that the "respect" has already been earned as far as his wards' efforts are concerned but maintained that the team needs to stay grounded as much as possible.
"I see things na kailangan balanse palagi. Sinasabi ko sa kanila, 'wag tayong mabulagan to where we are right now. We're just starting," said Gonzales. "We're winning pero alam natin na we're still far kasi ngayon pa lang natin nae-establish, siguro may kaunting respeto na.
"Ayon 'yong trinabaho nila. 'Yong respect na yan, trinabaho ng players ko 'yan... Ganito naman talaga kasi sa basketball, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going."
The veteran coach added that with more success comes more work to follow through and it serves as another reminder for the Bombers, led by the likes of Marwin Dionisio, Agem Miranda, John Amores, and Joshua Guiab, to double their preparation heading into the second round.
"Sinasabi ko sa kanila, 'Guys, binibigyan niyo ako ng panalo. Ihanda niyo 'yong isip at katawan niyo kasi mas magiging mahirap.'"
Against Lyceum, Dionisio led JRU with 15 points and 10 rebounds, rookie William Sy finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, Amores, who made clutch baskets down the stretch, had eight points, while Guiab grabbed seven points along with eight rebounds.
