Soldier nabbed for molesting minor in Catbalogan City

TACLOBAN CITY – Police arrested a 28-year-old soldier on Wednesday, Oct. 5, for allegedly molesting a minor in Catbalogan City, Samar.

The suspect is an active member of the Philippine Army assigned to the 20th Infantry Battalion based in Barangay San Jorge, Las Navas, Northern Samar and was the most wanted person in Paranas, Samar.

He had four warrants of arrest for lascivious conduct under Section 5 (B) of the Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, and three for statutory rape.

The Regional Trial Court Branch 27 in Catbalogan City has set bail for each act of lasciviousness case at P200,000 while no bail was set for the rape charges.

He was taken to the Catbalogan City Police Station for documentation before he was turned over to the court of origin.
