P5-M shabu seized in Cebu City buy-bust

CEBU CITY – Police arrested a 30-year-old man and seized suspected shabu valued at more than P5 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Carreta here on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

The suspect, Elton John dela Torre, was arrested by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO)-Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) inside the Chinese Cemetery where he agreed to meet the poseur-buyer.

Col. Dindo Alaras, chief of the CCPO-DEU, said they recovered shabu weighing 675 grams with an estimated value of P4,590,000.

Alaras said the suspect surrendered at the height of “Oplan: Tokhang,” the flagship anti-illegal drug program of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The suspect even completed his community-based drug rehabilitation program, police said.

Police started monitoring the suspect again due to reports that he resumed illegal drug activities.
