Nigerian call center agent arrested for illegal drugs, gun in Taguig

A 28-year-old Nigerian was arrested after police confiscated from him illegal drugs and a gun during a buy-bust operation in Taguig on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The arrested suspect was identified as Mac-Davis Bede Chuka, alias Okoro, a Nigerian who works as a call center agent and tagged by the police as a high-value individual or drug pusher.

Okoro was nabbed in an entrapment operation by the Southern Police District’s Drug Enforcement Unit and District Mobile Force Battalion at Arca South parking, FTI Compound in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig, according to SPD acting director Col. Kirby John Kraft.

Seized from Okoro were three plastic sachets containing dried leaves with fruiting tops suspected to be high-grade marijuana or kush weighing 13 grams with a value of P18,200, two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 10 grams worth P68,000, a digital weighing scale, a grinder, a small box of rolling paper, .a 45-caliber pistol, two .45-caliber magazines loaded with seven pieces of live ammunition, and a genuine P1,000 bill placed on top of P24,000 boodle money used as the buy-bust money.

He was brought to the SPD DDEU for documentation. He will be charged for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

“We in Southern Metro will continue to conduct police operations to ensure that people who violate any law will be put behind bars regardless of their nationality,” said Kraft.
