Teacher killed, husband injured by hit-and-run motorcycle driver in Cebu
CEBU CITY – A teacher was killed while her husband was injured by a hit-and-run motorcycle driver in Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla, Cebu on Tuesday, Oct. 4, a day before she and thousands of colleagues nationwide were honored on National Teachers’ Day on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Police identified the victim as Charisma Servado, a teacher at the Minglanilla Central School.
Investigation showed that Charisma and spouse Sherwin were riding a motorcycle when they were hit from behind by another motorcycle.
Police said Sherwin had signaled that he was turning left on their way to an eatery when the motorcycle rammed them.
The impact threw the couple off their motorcycle.
The driver of the other motorcycle fled and the victims were taken by emergency responders to the Minglanilla District Hospital. Charisma was declared dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Police launched a hot-pursuit operation but the driver of the other motorcycle was nowhere to be found.
The Minglanilla police have coordinated with the Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas for the possible identification of the suspect.
