Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar issued a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 5, extending the city government’s sympathy to the bereaved family of slain journalist Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa.
Mabasa was gunned down Monday night, Oct. 3, in front of the gate of BF Resort Village, in Barangay Talon, Las Piñas City, by motorcycle-riding men.
According to the statement of Aguilar, the city government mourns the death of Lapid who is a Las Piñeros.
Aguilar said the killing of the journalist is a direct attack on press freedom, and freedom of expression.
She said the city government is hoping that the police’s special task force investigating the heinous crime will immediately solve the case.
