ASG member wanted for theft, murder arrested in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested a Sulu-based Abu Sayyaf Group member in Barangay Cabatangan here on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Col. Paul Andrew Cortez, Zamboanga City police information officer, identified the suspect as Jun Arran Arip, alias “Jun Ayos,” 46.

Police arrested Arip on warrants of arrest for murder and theft issued by the Regional Trial Court in Sulu after they received information that he was planning to visit friends in Barangay Cabatangan.

He was identified as a follower of ASG sub-leader Apoh Mike who is allegedly involved in a series of kidnappings in Sabah, Malaysia, and Sulu.

Arip is detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office prior to turnover to the court in Sulu.
