The 29-year-old veteran leapt 7.76 meters to clinch the bronze medal in the meet where he was the lone foreign participant in the event.

Former World University Games and Asian champion Yuki Hashioka claimed the gold medal with 8.05m while Daiki Oda came in silver with 7.93m.

The tournament is a World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze event.

Ubas’ performance was better than his silver-medal feat at the 31st SEAG held in Hanoi, Vietnam last May where he jumped 7.73m.

This was Ubas’ third international competition in long jump this year including the SEAG. Last April, he competed in the Open Championships in Singapore where he finished with 7.52m for the silver medal.

Ubas is an all-around track and field athlete where he is also a bronze medalist in decathlon at the 31st SEAG.
