Easterlies, ITCZ may bring isolated rain showers across most of PH

The easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will still be the dominant weather systems in the country on Wednesday, Oct. 5, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 4.

PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the entire archipelago.

Easterlies are warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, while the ITCZ is a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast hemispheres converge that triggers thunderstorms and rain showers.

The public is advised to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Although no gale warning is in effect over the country’s seaboards as of Tuesday afternoon, PAGASA still advised fisherfolk and seafarers to remain vigilant as moderate seas may prevail over Northern and Central Luzon.

PAGASA said the rest of the archipelago will have slight to moderate seas.
