SAN JUAN, Batangas – This town was placed under a state of calamity due to the devastation from severe tropical storm “Paeng.”
Mayor Ildebrando "Beebong" Salud made declaration after the municipal council approved on Monday, Oct. 31, Resolution No. 152 placing the municipality under a state of calamity.
The state of calamity enables the municipal government to use the quick response fund to provide assistance for affected residents.
This town is among the municipalities in this province affected by Paeng.
Meanwhile, the nesting areas of pawikan or sea turtles in Barangay Castañas, Guis-guis-San Roque, and Bignay 2 in Sariaya, Quezon were washed away by the tropical cyclone.
Around 600 eggs were lost, the local Bantay Dagat said.
