Sermonia back as PNP No. 2 man

Police Lt. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia was officially reappointed as the second in command of the Philippine National Police (PNP), more than two months after he was booted out of the same post and assigned to Visayas.

The appointment paper of Sermonia as PNP deputy chief for administration took effect on Sunday, Oct. 30, while 16 other senior police officials were also given new posts.

Sermonia was first named as PNP deputy chief for administration in March but when PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin assumed the top post in August, he was transferred as the area commander of the Area Police Command- Visayas, stirring controversy in the organization's top brass since it was seen as a demotion.

Semonia was a contender for the PNP post in August along with Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao, then PNP officer-in-charge, who was also booted out of his post as deputy chief for operations and was assigned as area commander of Area Police Command (APC) Western Mindanao.

But in early October, Sermonia was named as acting deputy chief for administration after the mandatory retirement of a police oficial.

Maj. Gen. Michael John Dubria, director of the Civil Security Group (PNP CSG), will replace Sermonia as commander of the APC in the Visayas while Maj. Gen. Eden Ugale will be the new CSG director.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., erstwhile regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 in the CARAGA region, was named as the deputy director for intelligence. He will be replaced by Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II when he vacates his post in CARAGA.

Brig. Gen. Belli Tamayo was named as acting deputy commander of APC Western Mindanao while Col. Gil Francis Tria will be acting deputy director for administration of PRO Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR).

Other officials who got new posts were Col. Jeffrey Fernandez from PRO BAR who will be headed to PRO 4B (Mimaropa) as acting deputy regional director for operations (DRDO); Col. James Gulmatico from PRO12 (Soccsksargen) to PRO BAR as acting DRDO; Col. Patrick Joseph Allan from Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) to PRO Cordillera (PRO COR) as acting deputy regional director for administration (DRDA);

Col. Henry Binas from APC-Visayas to Internal Affairs Service (IAS) as acting regional director 3 (RDIAS 3); Col. Lou Evangelista from PRO9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) to PCADG as its acting director; Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay from National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to PRO9 as acting DRDO;

Col. Cresenciano Landicho from Finance Service to PNP Recruitment and Selection Service (RSS) as acting chief of staff; Col. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV from PCADG to APC Visayas as its acting chief program management division; Col. Julius Cecil Ordono from PRO2 (Cagayan Valley) to NCRPO as acting chief district directorial staff (CDDS) of the Manila Police District; and Col. Warren Gaspar Tolito from PNP RSS to PCADG as acting deputy director for operations (DDO).
