ILOILO CITY – Severe tropical storm “Paeng” has killed 20 persons in Western Visayas as of 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Western Visayas Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office under the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-6 said most of the fatalities drowned in flash flood while others were buried by landslide.
The province of Antique had the most number of casualties with nine. The province of Aklan had six confirmed deaths.
Iloilo had three confirmed casualties while there are two confirmed casualties in Capiz province.
Six persons are missing with four in Antique and one each in Aklan and Iloilo.
The Western Visayas RDRRMC expects the death toll to climb once the provincial DRRMOs submit updated reports.
Almost 821,500 persons were displaced by Paeng in 1,432 barangays across the region.
