Hardly has severe tropical storm Paeng left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) that ‘Queenie’ already intensified from a mere depression to storm as it heads towards the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited Noveleta, Cavite, to inspect the damage wrought by “Paeng” in the area. He also said he was not inclined to declare a national state of calamity, as not the whole country was affected by the severe tropical storm.
Speaker Martin Romualdez has so far gotten P49.2 million in cash pledges to jumpstart a relief fund for the victims of Paeng. An automatic price freeze on basic necessities and prime commodities has also been enforced by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Paeng-affected areas.
There will also be a marginal rollback in the prices of diesel, kerosene, and gasoline on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022.
