Korean star Lee Min-ho condoles with Itaewon victims: ‘Rest in peace’  


Korean actor Lee Min-ho offered his condolences to those who died in the Itaewon crowd crush in Seoul on Oct. 29.

A Halloween celebration turned deadly as people were crushed as they crammed a narrow alley in Itaewon, a favorite hangout for its bars, restaurants and shops.

The South Korean government reported that 154 people including 26 foreigners perished in the tragedy.

On Oct. 31, Lee Min-ho took to Twitter to express his condolences to those who died and wish for speedy recovery to the wounded.

“We offer our deepest condolences to families and friends of victims in the Itaewon disaster and wish the wounded to recover soon,” said the actor, star of dramas such as “The King: Eternal Monarch,” “The Heirs,” “The Legend of the Blue Sea” and “Pachinko.”

He added, “MYM also shares the sorrow during the national mourning period. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace. #PrayForITAEWON.”

Of the 154 who died, 98 were female and 56 were male. By residence, 60 persons lived in Seoul and 37 in Gyeonggi Province.

Of the 26 foreigners who died in the incident, officials said five were from Iran, four each came from China and Russia, two from the US, two from Japan, and one each from France, Australia, Norway, Austria, Vietnam, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka, Yonhap News reported.
