Dwight Ramos, Hokkaido show Kobe Paras, Altiri Chiba the door in Emperor Cup

Dwight Ramos and his Levanga Hokkaido showed the exit door to fellow Filipino import Kobe Paras and his Altiri Chiba in the 2022-23 Japan Emperor Cup on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Hokkaido used a strong second half to rip the game wide open with Ramos having his own share in the rout with nine points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals, besting his counterpart Paras who only had seven points in the loss.

San-En NeoPhoenix also came away with an 85-53 demolition of Shibuya Sunrockers. Thirdy Ravena played just two minutes a day after he scored 15 points on four three-pointers along with four assists and three rebounds in his team’s 93-80 victory over Toyama Grousers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bobby Ray Parks and Justine Baltazar didn’t see action in the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins’ 89-85 escape from the Hiroshima Dragonflies.

Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka also bowed out of the tournament after losing to Ibaraki Robots, 64-42. Greg Slaughter also sat out in the contest.

On Saturday, Kiefer Ravena also saw his Shiga Lakes campaign in the All-Japan tourney come to an abrupt end after falling to Hiroshima, 89-80. Kiefer unloaded 16 points on four triples apart from seven assists and five rebounds in a losing effort.

Matthew Wright and Jordan Heading also suffered the same fate when Kyoto Hannaryz and Nagasaki Velca dropped their respective games.

Wright scored 12 points, six assists, two rebounds and two steals in Kyoto’s 101-82 loss to the Gunma Crane Thunders. Heading, meanwhile, was limited to just 10 points in Nagasaki’s narrow 99-96 loss to Ehime Orange Vikings.
