BACOLOD CITY – A total of 2,248 policemen and force multipliers were deployed in Negros Occidental to ensure the safety of the public during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.

Lt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of Negros Occidental police, said that 779 personnel from the provincial police headquarters, 214 augmentation personnel from Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, and 1,255 others from the advocacy groups were deployed starting Monday, Oct. 31.
Catalogo said that two policemen were assigned to man each police assistance desks (PADs) in transport terminals, public markets, churches, and cemeteries.
They will be assisted by some force multipliers and barangay watchmen in their respective areas, he added.
Catalogo said the deployment of personnel will be until Nov. 3.
He said the provincial police office has been on full alert status since the series of encounters between the Army and the New People’s Army (NPA) in Himamaylan City on Oct. 6.
Meanwhile, Lt. Liberty Indiape, deputy spokesperson of the Bacolod City police, said that deployment of personnel here started on Oct. 28.
Indiape said that policemen will be visible in shopping malls, terminals, seaports, and cemeteries until Nov. 5.
She said that 14 policemen from PRO-Western Visayas will augment the Bacolod City police personnel, depending on the need of every police station here.
