Amid heavy downpour brought by severe tropical storm (STS) “Paeng,” two construction workers were arrested by members of Sub-Station 8 of the Pasig City Police after they tried to rob a delivery rider beside a fast-food restaurant of on Saturday, Oct. 29.
The report submitted to Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., the Pasig City Police Station (CPS) chief, identified the suspects as alias “Jomar” and “Gilbert,” both residents of Pagrai Hills, Barangay Mayamot in Antipolo City, Rizal.
According to the initial police investigation, the complainant, a delivery rider of the fast-food chain, said the suspects approached him as he was about to park his delivery motorcycle. One of the suspects pointed a knife at him and tried to steal his sling bag.
A commotion ensued between the suspect and the victim which caught the attention of a police officer who immediately responded to the incident.
The suspects were nabbed at around 2:30 a.m. on Ligaya Marcos Highway in Barangay Dela Paz, Pasig City.
Confiscated from the suspects was a 9.4-inch kitchen knife.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Pasig CPS.
Robbery and illegal possession of bladed weapon charges will be filed against the suspects before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
