Some roads in Silang, Cavite unpassable; mayor pushes state of calamity declaration

SILANG, Cavite – Floods brought by severe tropical storm “Paeng” left some roads unpassable Saturday evening, Oct. 29.

In a Facebook post, Silang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) announced that Sabutan-Kaong Bridge, Sabutan Bridge, Tibig East-West Road, Antigo Resort Brgy. Malaking Tatiao and Sabutan-Iba Road are closed up by floods.

Also inundated after hours of non-stop rains are Hukay-Munting Ilog Road, Pasipit, Adlas Bridge, Lumil to Pooc Road, Banay-Banay-East-West Road, and Balubad Road.

Mayor Kevin Amutan Anarna, meanwhile, said he asked the municipal council to file a resolution declaring a state of calamity in Silang.

In a Facebook post, Anarna said the local government unit continues to rescue flooded residents, help stranded motorists, and fix fallen posts and tree branches.

However, the mayor admitted that rescue operations are hampered in some areas due to unpassable roads.
