No Filipino casualty in Itaewon crowd crush— PH envoy to Seoul
No Filipino has so far been reported among the casualties from the deadly stampede in a Halloween event in Seoul's Itaewon district, the Philippine envoy to South Korea said.

Ambassador to South Korea Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega said no Filipino was reported among the 19 foreign nationals who died from the tragic incident.
"Merong 19 na foreign nationals na sa kasamaang palad ay sumakabilang buhay dito po sa insidente. Sa ngayon po wala pa pong report po tayong natatanggap na may Filipino casualties or victims or injured po (There are 19 foreign nationals who, unfortunately, passed away due to the incident. So far, we have not received any report of Filipino casualties, victims, or injured)," De Vega said in a radio interview on Sunday, Oct. 30.
De Vega said they have already dispatched teams to check on hospitals and other areas in Seoul to see if Filipinos are affected by the incident.
The ambassador also said they are coordinating with local authorities and universities to verify the conditions of Filipino nationals in the South Korean capital.
De Vega also called on families and friends in the Philippines to contact and check on their loved ones in South Korea. If they cannot establish a connection with their family or friends in South Korea, they are advised to contact the Philippine Embassy there.
"Kung meron po kayong konting pangamba sa kanilang sitwasyon, kung meron pong hindi magresponde kaagad, kung maaari n'yo pong ipaalam sa amin para makuha yung detalye (If you are worried on their situation, if they don't respond, please let us know so we can get the details)," De Vega said.
The Philippine Embassy also advised Filipinos in South Korea to "observe precautions during large events."
Filipinos in need of assistance may call the embassy's emergency hotline at +8210-9365-2312 or its assistance-to-nationals hotline at +8210-9263-8119.
Authorities said 151 people died while 82 were injured in the tragedy on Saturday night.
