Cardinal Advincula asks for prayers, compassion for those affected by typhoon Paeng
With the massive destruction caused by typhoon Paeng over the weekend, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula has called on the faithful to pray and extend assistance to all those who were severely affected by the weather disturbance.

His Eminence is knocking on the good and compassionate hearts of the faithful especially those who have the means and capacity to help particularly in areas where massive destruction had been reported.
“Let us recognize our role in the destruction of our environment. We have not been responsible stewards of the environment. We had been remiss in our duty to protect it. The world we live in has become the victim of our abuses and neglect and now, we are suffering the consequences of our actions,” said Cardinal Advincula over Radio Veritas.
The Church leader is praying for God’s mercy and forgiveness as well as for the safety of every Filipino from natural disasters.
“We come to you our loving Father asking for forgiveness for all our sins. We are begging for your mercy that all of us, our loved ones, and whatever we had worked hard for will be safe from all these natural disasters,” the prelate said.
“May the good Lord keep you and all of your loved ones safe. May the maternal love of Mama Mary embrace us and cover us with her protection. Let us be there for each other,” Cardinal Advincula said.
Typhoon “Paeng” has yet to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It is the 16th weather disturbance to enter the PAR this year.
