Belmonte recognized as one of Rainbow Champions of PFIP for support to LGBTQIA+ community

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte was recognized as one of the Rainbow Champions of the Philippine Financial And Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) for her support and dedication to advancing the rights of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more (LGBTQIA+) community on Friday, Oct. 28.

Belmonte, in her speech, said she believes that anyone is free to express their personality.

The mayor also assured that the city will continue to protect the members of LGBTQIA+.

Programs and policies for promoting gender equality include the QC Gender Fair Ordinance and ensuring workplaces are safe from gender-based abuses and discrimination.

The city government also holds a commitment ceremony for LGBT members every year to express its love and acceptance to them.

The Alab for Love Pride event was also held in QC last June, where up to 25,000 LGBT members and allies participated.
