More than 1,000 families have been evacuated in Muntinlupa due to severe tropical storm “Paeng.”
According to the Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management, as of 7:35 a.m. on Oct. 30, 1,092 families or 4,737 individuals are in different evacuation centers.
Cupang has the highest number of families that were evacuated at 306 followed by Alabang, 230; Poblacion, 221; Tunasan, 89; Buli, 77; Sucat, 58; Bayanan, 12 and Putatan, 10.
The total rose from 195 families or 774 individuals who were evacuated as of 3 p.m. on Oct. 29.
Due to the threat of “Paeng,” Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon ordered the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) to conduct preemptive evacuation and forced evacuation of people in coastal, low-lying, flood-prone and landslide-prone areas in the city.
Biazon visited evacuation centers to know the condition of families. The mayor suspended classes on Oct. 28 to 30
Electricity was cut off in some areas in Muntinlupa. Some trees fell due to strong winds.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that as of 6 a.m. of Oct. 30, 48 persons died, 40 were injured and 22 were missing.
A total of 277,383 families nationwide were affected by “Paeng” and 364,746 individuals were evacuated.
