CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Lawmen arrested a retired policeman in Tanauan City, Batangas on Sunday, Oct. 2, wanted for the murder of a barangay chairman in Naic, Cavite last February.
The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the suspect as retired Corporal Bernardo Pangilinan, 63.
Pangilinan was arrested by the Batangas police Provincial Intelligence Unit headed by Major Jay Caparas in his hideout in Barangay Sambat at 1 p.m.
The suspect was arrested on two arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder issued by Judge Ralph Arellano, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 132, Naic.
The court recommended no bail for the murder rap while P200,000 bail was set for the frustrated murder charge.
Pangilinan is a high value target individual and the No. 8 most wanted person in Cavite.
Suspect was positively identified by witnesses as the man who killed barangay captain Noel Catibayan, 48, of Malainen Bago, Naic and wounded the victim’s relative, Roy Catibayan, 48, in Ericka Louise Ville, Barangay Malainen Bago, Naic on Feb. 20.
Pangilinan was last assigned to the Maragondon, Cavite police station.
