'Heart healthy': Robin Padilla says it's a sign from God to continue his mission as a lawmaker
Senator Robinhood "Robin" C. Padilla shed tears of joy after his doctors told him last Saturday that they saw no clogging of his arteries.

This is a sign from God that he should continue his mission as a lawmaker, Padilla said in a statement issued today.
"Sa totoo, pagkasabi ng duktor na wala kang bara, naiyak ako (When my doctors told me I had no clogging, I cried for joy). Para sa akin, nag-uumpisa pa lang tayo sa misyon natin. Siyempre pag nagkaroon ka ng bara ibig sabihin noon magre-resign tayo sa trabaho (I am just starting my mission as a lawmaker. Had there been a clog, it may mean I have to resign from my post). E noong tayo ay kumandidato yan ang pinagdasal natin. Pag nanalo tayo ibig sabihin gusto ng Panginoong Diyos magsilbi tayo. Pero sa pagsisilbi na yan pag nagkasakit ka, ibig sabihin ayaw ng Diyos yan para sa iyo (I had considered my victory as a sign that God wants me to serve; and a clog would have meant it was not for me)," he said.
Padila thanked those who prayed and expressed support for his recovery, even as he asked them to continue praying for him so his blood pressure will return to normal.
He said that while his blood pressure was at 110/80, it is now at 150/100 even in his most relaxed state.
Last weekend, he underwent an angiogram where doctors told him he has a "very healthy heart," but needs to watch his blood pressure.
He recalled being advised to undergo an angiogram after returning from Spain earlier this year - after he experienced high blood pressure there, with his BP shooting up to 250/100. He underwent an ultrasound, endoscopy, colonoscopy and pulmonary at cardio stress tests where doctors found possible signs of ischemia.
Padilla said that when the doctors told him about the possible clogging of his arteries, his wife Mariel and other members of his family were shocked.
He said some doctors in his family gave various pieces of advice, ranging from undergoing the angiogram to taking food supplements. He decided to go with the angiogram as he saw nothing bad about it.
"Sabi nga ng doctor, parang si Mariel lang ang laman ng puso mo. Sabi niya very healthy heart. Kailangan lang natin bantayan ang high blood. Kaya noong hapong yan umuwi rin kami (The doctor told me the only one in my heart is Mariel, and that I have a very healthy heart - just watch out for the blood pressure. After that I was cleared to go home)," he said.
