MB Daily News Update: 'Paeng' rips through PH; death toll at 45
Severe tropical storm Paeng barreled through the Philippines, leaving behind a wide swath of destruction that left 45 dead, hundreds injured or missing, and many areas under flood waters or devastated by landslides in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Thousands of passengers headed for their hometowns for “Undas” were already stranded in sea and airports as sea travel and flights were cancelled.
All these left President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. disheartened, ruing that many of the deaths could have been prevented with proper preparation. He is also considering placing the country under a state of calamity.
Meanwhile, a renowned forensic pathologist said the middleman in the Percy Lapid killing, who died at the National Bilibid Prison, was a victim of homicide.
The details of these major stories, as well as those included in the Manila Bulletin roster of reports, are just a click away this Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2022.
