BUGUEY, Cagayan – The first-ever Buguey Crab Festival was held in this town on Saturday, Oct. 29, as severe tropical storm “Paeng” lashed Luzon with heavy rain.
Mayor Ceri Antiporda said main highlight of the event was the open lunch where one metric ton of crabs cooked by residents was served on Saturday.
This town is known for its high-quality crabs which earned it the moniker "Crab Capital of the North."
Street dancing, exhibits, crab dance, search for Mr. and Miss Teen Crab Buguey, and crab cooking contest were also held as part of the two-day festival from Oct. 28 to 29.
