15,426 families in Bicol evacuated due to 'Paeng'

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Office of Civil Defense said on Saturday, Oct. 29, that 15,426 families or 72,089 individuals have been evacuated in the Bicol region since Friday due to severe tropical storm "Paeng" (international name “Nalgae”).

Gremil Naz, Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)-Bicol spokesperson, said that they are temporarily staying in different evacuation centers.

Camarines Sur has enforced pre-emptive evacuation after flooding was recorded in 24 municipalities.

OCD-Bicol said 7,716 families or 41,675 individuals evacuated in Camarines Sur while Albay has 5,861 families or 23,408 individuals.

Catanduanes has 598 families or 2,715 persons evacuated; Camarines Norte, 594 families or 2,244 individuals; Sorsogon, 341 families or 1,201 individuals; Masbate, 309 families or 846 individuals, and Naga City, seven families.

No casualties and damage were reported in Bicol as of 6 a.m. Saturday.
