Work, classes in Tacloban, Southern Leyte suspended due to TS ‘Paeng’


TACLOBAN CITY - Southern Leyte Governor Damian Mercado and Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez declared the suspension of work and classes at all levels due to Tropical Storm 'Paeng,' on Friday (October 27).

Classes in all levels and work were also suspended in Palo, Leyte due to Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 hoisted in Leyte, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte.

As of 8:00 a.m. today (Oct. 28), Coast Guard Station Northern Samar has reported 1,324 passengers and 275 rolling cargoes stranded in four ports in Northern Samar.

The province is experiencing moderate to rough seas where TCWS No. 2 has been raised.

The Department of Public Works and Highways Eastern Samar District Engineering Office has also announced that the road section at Binaloan, Taft, Eastern Samar, along National Road Wright-Taft-Borongan Road is temporarily closed to all types of vehicles at 10:00 a.m. due to the possible occurrence of landslide.

Motorists going in and out of the province are advised to use the alternate route at Jct. Buenavista-Lawaan-Marabut Road.
