National University will get straight to work when it faces Perpetual in the quarterfinals of Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-season Conference on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The Bulldogs, who handed the Ateneo Lady Eagles their lone defeat to sweep Pool C for a 3-0 record, are looking to give the only NCAA contender Lady Altas an instant beating as they meet in the opening hostilities at 10 a.m.
In the next play, University of Santo Tomas will try to keep its UAAP rival Far Eastern University (2-1) at bay in their 12:30 p.m. meeting after taking full control of Pool B for a 4-0 card to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
The Tamaraws, for their part, managed to keep the second seat after falling to De La Salle Lady Spikers in Pool D.
Meanwhile, La Salle will not let its guard down against Adamson as they battle in the 4:00 p.m. matchup.
The Lady Spikers, who confirmed participation at the last minute, was the first team to reserve a quarterfinals seat after a hard-earned 3-0 lead in Pool D which also saw them defeat two NCAA teams College of St. Benilde and Letran.
The Lady Falcons kept themselves in the league after outlasting Emilio Aguinaldo in straight sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-19, to book the last ticket to the next round with a 3-1 record.
Lastly, University of the Philippines will cap off the quadruple-header when it takes on Ateneo in their 6:30 p.m. encounter.
The Fighting Maroons ended the preliminaries with a sweep in Pool A to boast a 4-0 record while the Lady Eagles’ 2-1 standing in Pool C was enough to get themselves moving to the second round of the play.
