Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III has assured the public of a safe and peaceful “Undas 2022.”
The QCPD deployed on Friday, Oct. 28, around 4,000 personnel to various areas in the city such as cemeteries and columbaria, bus terminals, Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations, and malls to ensure peace and order, and to enforce Covid-19 minimum health protocols.
A police assistance desk has been set up in every cemetery and columbarium to guide the people, as well as conduct surveillance and other police works.
The city police earlier launched its drone squadron that will be deployed to deter crimes at cemeteries and other crowded places.
The QCPD said members of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and force multipliers such as barangay tanods, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel, and other agencies will also assist in securing the city during Undas.
“Pinapaalalahanan po natin ang ating mga kababayan na mag-ingat at sumunod sa mga panuntunan ng ating lokal na pamahalaan para sa isang ligtas na paggunita ng UNDAS 2022. Mahigpit po na ipinagbabawal ang pagdadala ng mga matatalim na bagay, baril, alak o anumang uri ng inuming nakakalasing at pagsusugal sa loob ng sementeryo (We remind our citizens to be careful and follow the rules of our local government for safe observance of UNDAS 2022. It is strictly prohibited to bring sharp objects, guns, alcohol or any kind of alcoholic beverages, and gambling inside the cemetery),” the police director said.
He also urged the people to coordinate with the police if they find something suspicious in the areas.
“Makakaasa po kayo na hindi hahayaan ng pamunuan ng QCPD na samantalahin ng mga kriminal o mga masasamang grupo na makagawa ng anumang bagay na makasisira sa kaayusan at seguridad ng ating pamayanan (Expect that the leadership of the QCPD will not allow criminal groups to do anything that will destroy the order and security of our community),” Torre added.
