CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro -- Some 3,600 police personnel including members of the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and various volunteer groups will be deployed in various cemeteries or memorial parks, major thoroughfares, transportation hubs, vital installations, in the region as part of security measures for All Saints’ Day.
Brig. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia, regional director of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), assured the public that effective Friday, Oct. 28, necessary police deployment in the entire region are already in place for this year’s All Saints Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2) celebrations.
“We are now ready to implement our law enforcement and public safety plans to ensure the safety and security of the people,” said Brig. Gen. Hernia.
“The intensified security measures are aimed at preventing crimes and ensuring that police intervention is in place to diffuse possible incidents that may transpire during the said events,” added BGen Hernia.
Police assistance desks shall likewise be put in place in different areas of convergence to reinforce the security response and intervention, Hernia said.
“I have already directed all unit commanders in the region to remain visible at all times along travel routes, transport terminals, public cemeteries and other public places to establish police presence in these areas,” stressed BGen Hernia.
“We aspire for a crime-free Undas celebration in the Mimaropa region,” the police general said.
