True to its advocacy of helping needy Filipinos, private charity organization Pitmaster Foundation immediately activated its relief operations following the onslaught of Super-typhoon Karding and extended emergency assistance to affected families.
“We care about people. In times of crisis, we have always come to help those who are vulnerable to the current pandemic and of course the recent typhoon that caused devastation in most parts of Luzon,” said lawyer Caroline Cruz, Pitmaster Foundation executive director.
Just recently, the foundation distributed 5,000 relief packs for residents of Quezon province.
Cruz said the initiative is a testament of the commitment and dedication of the foundation, chaired by businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang, to help needy Filipinos get back on their feet.
The Pitmaster official also vowed to keep the bayanihan spirit alive, especially amid the difficult times.
“Even in times of uncertainty, Pitmaster Foundation is and will always be a family that will support and lift one another. It has been ingrained in our DNA to look for the welfare of the Filipino people,” she said.
The foundation first launched its relief operations in October 2020 when it distributed 10,000 food packs in Albay after it was severely affected by Tropical Cyclone Rolly.
Since then, the private charity organization has been conducting humanitarian missions in support of the government.
The foundation’s assistance are mostly food packs and other relief or emergency items.
At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pitmaster Foundation actively supported the government in the fight against the viral disease.
It even had a regular program that provided ₱4,500 financial assistance to dialysis patients, but had to stop when online cockfighting or e-sabong operations was suspended in May 2022.
There are also efforts to help the government reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the impact of climate change.
