Pasig City LGU bags 8 awards for excellence in urban governance


The Pasig City government took home eight awards for “excellence in urban governance” during the 2022 Urban Governance: Exemplar Awards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) held on Thursday, Oct. 27

The awarding body hailed the city government for having a “Functional” Peace and Order Council, “Moderate Functional” Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and “Ideal Level Functionality” Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC).

The DILG-NCR also recognized Pasig City for garnering an overall 91 percent rating in the 2019 Child-Friendly Local Government Audit.

Pasig City’s Liquid Management Cluster, and the Information, Education, and Communication and Institutional Arrangement Cluster for the Manila Bay Clean Up Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) were awarded as “top performers.”

The city was among the top 10 awardees honored for being “Highly Compliant” in the MBCRPP, noting its 91.63 percent compliance assessment rate.

Barangay Dela Paz also won fourth place in the 2022 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards for the Highly Urbanized City category, for their efforts in peacemaking and settling disputes at the barangay-level.

A delegation of the Pasig LGU, led by City Planning and Development Coordinator Priscella Mejillano, together with Pasig DILG Field Director Visitacion Martinez, attended the ceremony at the Manila Hotel and accepted the awards on behalf of Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto.

“Ang mga award na ito ay patunay ng commitment ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig tungo sa matino, mahusay, at maaasahan na lokal na pamahalaan para sa Pasigueño (These awards are proof of our commitment towards building an efficient and reliable local government for Pasigueños),” the LGU said in a statement.

The Urban Governance: Exemplar Awards formally recognized the contributions and accomplishments of local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila.

The DILG measures the criteria to determine the winners through regional assessment and validation of their various programs and projects.
