Arrested by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-Western Visayas was Mary Nessa Ong, 40, of Barangay 22 here, following the seizure of 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 during a buy-bust.

Maj. Rommel Anicete, RPDEU-Western Visayas head, said Ong is included in the top 10 priority high value individuals (HVIs) in the regional level.

Anicete said that Ong has an alleged contact with illegal drugs inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) here.

However, he refused to divulge more details regarding the alleged source and as to how the transaction is made, pending their investigation and monitoring.

Police also recovered from Ong the P30,000 marked money, P1,100, three cellular phones, pouch, and other non-illegal drug items.

According to the RPDEU, Ong was arrested for a drug offense in 2016 and was released in 2018 through plea bargaining.

This is the second operation of the RPDEU this week, following the big drug haul in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, which resulted in the arrest of a couple and recovery of P1.3 million worth of shabu, a firearm, and ammunition in Barangay III on Oct. 25.

Meanwhile, Ong did not comment on the allegation against her. She is detained at Police Station 6.
