53 drug suspects nabbed, P500,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in daylong operation in region 9

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Some P500,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized during a one-day regionwide operation staged under the Simultaneous Enhanced Managing Police Operations (SEMPO) by the Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) in Zamboanga Peninsula from Oct. 27 to Oct. 28.

PBGen. Neil Alinsañgan, PRO-9 Regional Director, said 21 drug operations resulted in the confiscation of 76.77 grams of shabu worth P522,065.

The police also arrested 53 drug suspects, eight of them were most wanted.

Thirty-two persons were also nabbed for illegal gambling while 13 explosives and 71 loose firearms were confiscated.

Alinsañgan described the SEMPO as a regular activity by the Philippine National Police aimed toward reducing crime and strengthening public safety with the support of the community.
