Tricycle driver shot dead by passenger in Lanao del Norte

ILIGAN CITY -- A tricycle driver was shot dead by his passenger on Thursday morning, Oct. 27, at Purok 2, Barangay Rebe, Lala, Lanao del Norte.

Lala Police authorities identified the victim as Maristel Almojalias y Torompido, male, single, and a resident of Purok-4, Brgy. Poblacion, in Salvador, Lanao del Norte.

Investigation revealed that the suspect was a passenger of the victim. They were on their way to Maranding, and upon reaching Purok 2, the suspect shot the driver twice using an unknown caliber.

The suspect immediately jumped away while the victim managed to drive and asked for help.

Salvador Municipal Police Station personnel led by PCMS John Eric C Reblinca responded and immediately brought Almojalias to Kapatagan Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. James Retuya.

Hot pursuit operation was still ongoing to identify and catch the perpetrator. The motive in the killing was still unknown.
