Filmmaker Paul Soriano expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who has recently clarified his appointment as adviser on creative communications.
"People misunderstood. He’s not there to be part of the PR machine. He’s there to find ways to promote the creative industry, kasi doon siya galing. People have misunderstood. He’s not there to be part of the PR (public relations) machine,” the President said. “He’s there to find ways to promote the creative industry. Kasi doon siya galing, eh (He’s from that industry).”
He reiterated that Paul's job is to showcase Filipino talent to the world.
“Kasama ‘yan sa tourism. Pinagmamalaki natin ang gagaling kumanta ng Filipino, ang gagaling umarte, ang gagaling gumawa ng sine, etc., etc. We have to project that to the rest of the world... ’Yan ang trabaho ni Paul. So, I hope that clarifies that.”
On Twitter, Paul thanked his uncle for the explanation.
"Yes Mr President @bongbongmarcos let us all work together to make the Philippine Creative Industry even greater. Thank you for the trust and support exciting times ahead," he wrote.
Recall that early this month when Paul confirmed that there were indeed talks about him replacing Trixie Cruz-Angeles after she resigned her post as press secretary due to health reasons.
But that time, he noted how he is not keen on the position as he feels it needs someone more qualified than him.
