PAF teaches importance of financial wellness among personnel

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) launched a trade fair to promote financial wellness and responsibility among its personnel, a military spokesperson said on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The trade fair held from Oct. 25 to 26 at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City was part of the 49th founding anniversary PAF Finance Center, said Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo, PAF spokesperson.

The launching and closing ceremonies were led by PAF vice commander Maj. Gen. Arthur Cordura and AFCC commanding officer Col. Victorino Patricio, respectively.

Castillo said the event gathered government agencies, accredited financial institutions, banks and insurance companies offering various financial and investment options, to open booths and exhibitions for the military and civilian personnel of PAF.

The highlight of the event was the financial literacy forum by motivational speaker Chinkee Tan, who discussed different ways to achieve financial freedom and be debt-free through education.

“The said event, with over 200 attendees, aims to strengthen the PAF personnel and their dependents’ foundation on financial literacy and develop financial wellness and responsibility,” Castillo explained.

“The learnings are intended to promote the right mindset and values to enable proper management of hard-earned salaries through the right ways of saving and investing,” she added.

The trade fair, according to Castillo, will help the soldiers and their families to have a better quality of life as they prepare to be financially secured once they retire from the service.
