BANGUED, Abra – The Department of Social Welfare and Development said Thursday, Oct. 27, that 22,066 families or 72,807 individuals have been affected by the magnitude-6.4 earthquake from 129 barangays in 13 municipalities in this province.

The DSWD-Cordillera said eight houses were totally damaged and 1,846 were partially damaged. Thirteen families or 43 individuals are staying in evacuation centers.
Thirty-two persons were injured during the earthquake on Oct. 26. Nobody was killed or reported missing in the temblor.
DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo visited this capital town on Wednesday and handed over immediate cash assistance of P5,000 each to seven individuals who were injured in Lagayan, Abra, the epicenter of the earthquake.
Tulfo pledged to provide cash assistance to all injured and families whose houses were totally or partially damaged.
He instructed the DSWD-Cordillera to continue the distribution of family food packs to the victims and immediately conduct damage assessment to enable the government to distribute financial assistance.
The Department of Education-Abra Schools Division Office reported that 58 schools were damaged by the earthquake and assessment is ongoing.
Because of this, Abra Gov. Dominic Valera suspended classes on Thursday, Oct. 27.
