Award-winning director Joel Lamangan has announced that he is set to direct a movie about a poor urban family during the final days of the Marcos administration.

But Lamangan pointed out that the upcoming movie is not an answer to the blockbuster film "Maid In Malacanang" which tells the story of the last four days of the Marcoses in Malacanang.

Entitled "Oras de Peligro," the movie will be the inaugural project for Bagong Siklang Productions. The docu-style drama will be written by Eric Ramos and Bonifacio Ilagan.

During a press conference held in Quezon City last weekend, Lamangan pointed out that the movie will not favor any administration or politician.

"Itong pelikulang ito ay walang anumang sasabihing masama laban sa kasalakuyang administrasyon.

"Ang sinasabi lamang ng pelikulang ito at kung ano ang tutoong nangyari noong 1986 tungkol sa isang simpleng pamilya. Yun lamang ang sinasabi ko.

"Wala kaming kulay-kulay. Ako rainbow!" said Lamangan.

Award-winning actors Allen Dizon and Cherie Pie Picache lead the stars of the upcoming movie, scheduled for release in February 2023.

Other stars in the film are Mae Paner, Therese Malvar, Gerald Santos; Marcus Madrigal, Rico Barrera, Carlos Dala, Felixia Dizon, Jim Pebanco, Nanding Joseph, Apollo Abraham, and Elora Espano.

Asked why he cast Cherie Pie, Joel said: "Dahil magaling siyang artista. Ako ang kauna-unahang nagbigay sa kanya ng Asian Best Actress."

Paner, who admitted she watched "Maid In Malacanang," encouraged the public to watch "Oras de Peligro."

"Nanood ako ng 'Maid In Malacanang.' Sana manood din sila ng 'Oras de Peligro.' And who knows, from there, something good will happen. And then let's start a conversation," she said.
