TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) has activated the “Lakbay Alalay” motorist assistance program for “Undas” or All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1.
Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas ordered District Engineering Offices to field and crew personnel with maintenance equipment on standby.
They were deployed in 17 strategic locations on the national highway in all five provinces in the region -- Cagayan, Quirino, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Batanes.
."Our presence is significant and timely for the public in celebration of Undas, not only extending motorists assistance but keeping our national highway system open and safe 24/7 for the people," Canlas stated.
The motorist assistance program will start 7 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, until 12 noon on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Safety signages and traffic advisories will be installed at ongoing projects to prevent slowdown on major roads and routes leading to cemeteries.
The DPWH will be in close coordination with other government entities such as the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and local government units (LGUs) for any required assistance.
